OUCH.  THIS HURTS.  A Listener sent me this photo of how he wakes up, and is trying to avoid SNOOZING!  Why do people snooze so much?

Gizmodo has a dated article that explains the science behind why you're hitting SNOOZE so much and why it's such a bad idea.

  • When you snooze - seratonin and dopamine release sends confusing signals to your body.  Your body is left confused wondering if you should wake up or fall asleep, which is why you remain drowsy and sluggish.  Snoozing actually makes it harder to wake up!
  • You aren't getting enough sleep - you need 7-9hours.  If you interrupt the deepest level of sleep, studies have shown your mental function can be blunted throughout the day.
  • To fix it, go to sleep earlier, and earlier, until you eventually find yourself waking up naturally at the right time.  When you wake up naturally at the correct time, you will be able to get out of bed easier and remain at the top of your game throughout the rest of your day.
